University Planners visit MSU-Buug;Academic Growth Corridor launched
The University Planners from the main campus visited MSU-Buug in the morning of September 16, 2006. The group launched the Academic Growth Corridor (AGC) which is one of the imperatives of MSU Vision 2020. The University Planners who came was headed by the Vice President for Planning and Development, Engr. Abdullah Alonto. With him were the University Consultant for Planning, Dr. Mario Rodriguez and training officer Ahmad Solaiman.Dr. Mario Rodriguez gave the overview on the strategic planning of the concept in the development of the Academic Growth Corridor. The AGC, according to him, consisted of four academic dimensions. These are: 1) Lanao del Norte, Misamis Oriental, Maguindanao and General Santos AGC. Under this corridor are MSU-Naawan, MSU-Maigo, Malabang Community College, MSU- Maguindanao and MSU-General Santos; 2.) MisamisOccidental - Zamboanga Peninsula AGC which includes MSU-Buug and MSU-Lopez Jaena Community College; 3) Lanao del Sur and Marawi AGC. Included in this corridor are all community colleges of Lanao del Sur and MSU-Balo-i; 4) BASUTA AGC which is implemented by MSU-Sulu. This corridor covers the area of Basilan, Sulu and Tawi-Tawi. Dr. Rodriguez likewise said that this Academic Growth Corridor is not only meant for the development of MSU branches but it is for the educational, social and cultural upliftment of the entire MSU System. He further stressed that MSU-BC will be the mother unit of future MSU units in Zamboanga provinces. Present in the launching of the AGC were Gov. George T. Hofer and his wife, Dr. Dulce Hofer, Vice-Mayor Arnold Lim, SB members Flordeliz Curiba and Allen Paderanga, the MSU-BC family headed by no less than the director, Sultan Taha G. Sarip.
